Sportmax: riding the waves of the Land of the rising sun
The designers were elicited by the pages of Japanese photo album, published in the early eighties when creating the Sportmax SS 2017 collection. The time-touched pages show pearl divers in the waves near the seashore, who are busy searching for their precious catch. Faded monochrome shots are striking in their energy. There are women with broad smiles & happy faces, who are incredibly strong and appealing.
Sportmax hopes to pass this carefree joy of life and lightness of being. The palette ranges from fresh white and creamy shades which are in contrast with deep black or indigo, passionate purple or refined scarlet. Fish from Japanese engraving, swimming against the tide, or chrysanthemums on water - all motifs are in tune with the oriental style.
There are light & airy fabrics like pleasant touch cotton, weightless silk or "crumpled"linen with the finest wire interlace. Folds, as if borrowed from Japanese kimonos and decorative stiches deliberately wrinkling the fabric are just fascinating.
Cords, allowing to accentuate the waist, lift the side seam or raise and pleat the skirt, making it shorter & fluffier, are the core element of the collection. Lengthen or shorten, tighten or loosen - cords give the freedom to experiment with proportions and silhouette.

The new Sportmax collection is already in-store. You are welcome to the branded boutiques in GUM, Petrovsky Passage & Smolensky Passage.
