New spring La Perla collection was shown in Macau
20 top models, including Natasha Poly and Liu Wen, several hundred famous guests, including Chinese celebs Fan Bingbin and Hu Bin, gathered on October 19th at the luxurious hotel The Venetian - a 39-storey skyscraper blazing with a million of lights. La Perla casual & couture lines were shown in colorful Macau, the former Portuguese colony, and one of the most impressive cities of the Celestial Empire.
"I am delighted that the world premiere of our spring-summer collection was held in this beautiful and exotic place, the center of fashion and luxury. We are the fashion house without borders but with many shelters" – the creative director Julia Haart said.
Apparently, Ms. Haart made her new collection after a visit to the mineralogy museum, where she was inspired precious stones and gems. Like an experienced jeweler, she explores their hardness and fragility, immobility and fluidity, static shape and movement, finds beauty in contrast of hard & rough surface, magnificent veins and elegant inclusions.
Prints and details are fascinating: sharp edges of amethyst, dark veins of turquoise, wavy pattern of agate, the mysterious flicker of opal are artfully transferred to fabric by La Perla craftsmen.
Through these opposites, Haart continues to express a new understanding of femininity, around which all creativity of the designer who declared herself a feminist turns. Considering the fact that La Perla was founded by an emancipated Ada Mazotti 60 years ago, the direction is right and time plays nice.
Haart spotted many findings in the archives of the brand, adding her vision to them. The main message is that power woman should not hide her sexuality and femininity. Do not hide your treasures, but emphasize them with ruches, rhinestones’ scattering and branded pleats.
The wardrobe of the 21st century femme émancipée is about maxi dresses with open shoulders, sensual décolleté and deep cuts, tight-fitting trouser suits, short dresses with thin straps in linen style, trench coats with wide belts, jackets with fur collars: for receptions, red carpet events, business meetings and dates.
La Perla uses silk, lace, satin, leather with reptile embossing and lame but changes them at the same time.  Adding elastane and high-tech threads to silk, Haart gets a fabric that retains luxury and gives freedom of movement at the same time.
Colors play nice with the jewelry theme: ruby, turquoise, amethyst, pearl, coal-black. However, Haart believes that "immovable does not develop, and the collection shows that the concept of humanity should not be static - only changes allow us to go forward." Therefore, by the end of the show, monochrome and natural patterns of gems were diluted with prints in the shape of dragonflies and flowers.
You are welcome to the stores of the brand!
