Paul Smith: painting the city with bright colors
The first Notting Hill Carnival has become the biggest impression for the young provincial Paul Smith, who for the first time came to London from sleepy Nottingham as far back as in 1966. Misty prim London has been bursting with the colorful extravaganza of colors easily imagined somewhere in Rio – that’s when then the designer realized that he found his artistic style.
Men's spring-summer collection by Paul Smith is about the reference to 1960’s. There are drainpipe trousers, tight-fitted jackets, colorful shirts and polo shirts with elongated collars. The modernity is embodied in borrowed from the sporty style loose trousers with pockets and bomber jackets - there is mish-mash, reflecting the modern reality of multicultural London.
The recognizable combinations of yellow, green and red, intertwined to create strips is another basic Paul Smith pattern, as well as tropical plaid, which seem to breath with the warmth of the colonial West Indies. Bright print in the shape of “17” on T-shirts and polo-shirts dates the collection.
Lost among the Paul Smith’s favorite flowers, women's SS 2017 collection blossoms in the concrete jungle exuberantly. Large buds and small wild flowers bloom on loose coats, classic bomber jackets, flowing dresses and elegant trouser suits.
The specified contrast of nature and civilization is also seen in the perfect cut, which famed the brand. It is deliberately loose this season. Paul Smith offers to put on tunic-dresses with intricate folds, silk bloomers and over-sized coats.
SS Paul Smith collection is in-store already. See you in the branded boutiques in GUM, Petrovsky Passage, Smolensky Passage & VESNA, as well as in St. Petersburg.
