Live broadcast of "Simon Boccanegra" opera was held at Theater Square
Interest in the tour program of La Scala Theatre was so great that GUM and the Open Arts Festival "Chereshnevy Les" took the initiative to conduct a live broadcast of the last performance of the tour on a special screen, located at Theater Square. This idea was supported by the senior managers of the Bolshoi Theatre and La Scala Theatre.
On September 16th guests of Theatre Square could see street broadcast of Giuseppe Verdi’s opera on the screen in front of the Bolshoi Theater. The admission to Theatre Square was free. Despite of the rainy weather the square in front of the theater was crowded. Raincoats were prepared for those who did not have umbrellas.
"Simon Boccanegra" is the hallmark of La Scala Theatre. According to the General Director of Teatro alla Scala Alexander Pereira, the opportunity to gather an outstanding cast at one stage became the clincher in "Simon Boccanegra" selection.
The party of Simon Boccanegra at the Bolshoi Theatre was performed by the famous baritone, Italian Leo Nucci, one of the greatest bel canto singers. Nucci is considered to be one of the best performers of the role of Simon Boccanegra in the history of opera productions.
Those who came specifically to listen to the opera masterpiece and those who were lucky enough to be at the Theater Square in the right time were delighted and full-hearted.
