Mikhail Kusnirovich is the Great Officer of the Highest Order of Italy
The Italian Ambassador to Russia Mr. Cesare Maria Ragaglini gave the Order of Merit for the Italian Republic "(Ordine al merito della Repubblica Italiana) of Grand Officer class to the head of the BOSCO group of companies and the organizer of the Chereshnevy Les festival Mikhail Kusnirovich. The ceremony was held within the solemn evening at the Italian Embassy in Moscow on October 3rd.
The highest award of Italy is issued by a personal decree of the President of the Italian Republic Sergio Mattarella. It distinguishes the citizens of Italy and foreign countries for outstanding merits in the field of economy, literature, art, charitable and social activities.
Presenting the insignia, the red ribbon and the golden eight-pointed star to Mikhail Kusnirovich, in the presence of numerous friends and relatives, Mr. Ambassador noted the rarity of the award: "In 2016, only one foreign citizen in the world was awarded this Order. It was awarded to only a few people during the whole USSR and Russian history. Finally, I have been working as a diplomat for 40 years, but I am giving such a reward for the first time, so I am lucky too. On behalf of Italy, I want to thank Mikhail Kusnirovich for everything he has done for our country. "
In the official part of the decree of the Italian president, read out to the guests, it was noted that the Order is awarded for outstanding contribution to the development of Italian-Russian relations in the field of economy and culture: financial support for the first official Russian-language portal on tourism in Italy La tua Italia, numerous cultural initiatives, in particular, the tour of the La Scala Theater in the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow and the exhibition of De Chirico in the Tretyakov Gallery, as well as "the promotion of many Italian brands and goods on the Russian market."
The last item attracted special attention of Mikhail Kusnirovich, who, in a thankful speech, could not help smiling: "Thank you for not forgetting that here in Russia we buy many Italian coats, trousers, blouses - in general, the things that make us love Italy even more! "
Mikhail Kusnirovich has got his first Order of Merit for the Italian Republic 11 years ago, in 2006. It was the degree of the Commander which is given prior to the Great Officer. "It's a pity that my father did not see me then. He would be proud of me, but today my seven-year-old son Mark sees me. This is not my personal award, but the award of the whole Bosco family. I would like to share it with everyone, including those who left us," the hero of the day said.
Knights of the highest degree of the Order of Merit for the Italian Republic, established in 1951, are the King of Belgium Albert II, the head of Spain Juan Carlos I, the Queen of Denmark Margrethe II, several presidents - the Republic of Lithuania, the Czech Republic, South Africa, France, Russia - Boris Yeltsin. As for the Russians, film director Nikita Mikhalkov and political scientist & writer Nikolai Spassky are the Great Officers, Mikhail Piotrovsky, Valery Gergiev & Olga Sviblova are the Commanders.
Many guests came to congratulate Mikhail Kusnirovich. After all, he was presented with the award right on his 51st birthday!
