Cherry Forest Festival always pays special attention to the youngest lovers of theatre. This year a whole line of GUM is dedicated to a colourful exhibition of puppets that performed at the Obraztsov Theatre.
The exhibition is a true theatrical retrospective, showcasing puppets from such famous productions as Cipollino, Figaro, Cinderella, and The Queen of Spades, as well as large moving puppets, playbills, photos of actors and so much more.
The legendary presenter of the Unusual Concert Eduard Aplombov hosted the exhibition opening ceremony.
Mikhail Kusnirovich – head of Bosco di Ciliegi:
As a boy, I would always visit Obraztsov Theatre to see the famous puppet parade. That was 1972, I believe. The best fortune has brought the puppets and even Aplombov himself to the spacious halls of GUM. We always watched the remarkably funny An Unusual Concert on TV. Even now our 11-year-old son is among the fans of that performance. It is a truly touching and sincere piece of art.
Ekaterina Obraztsova – Obraztsov Theatre production director, granddaughter of Sergey Obraztsov:
We wanted to be a part of the Cherry Forest Festival for a long time. And here we are! It is a wonderful event, and we are grateful that the festival coincides with the jubilee of Sergey Obraztsov. Today is the premiere of Cipollino, and, as per usual, the first performance is preceded by a bout of excitement.
The exhibition is open at Line 3, GUM, and closes on June 12.
