Jil Sander: Spring-Summer 2018
Jil Sander spring-summer collection strikes with almost monastic chastity and restraint of expressive means. The fashion house has always been famous for its austerity. The new heads - the conjugal duo of Luke and Lucie Meier has almost turned minimalism into asceticism .
The basis of the collection is about buttoned up long white shirts, reminiscent of the branded elegant style of Ms. Jil Sander. Flat square-toed leather shoes or long dark blue coats with high cuts on the sides are coupled with them.
The Meiers say that they carefully studied the archives of the house, but added their own vision to them. By the way, Lucie worked in Dior, Louis Vuitton, Balenciaga, and Luke dedicated a few years to Supreme, and then launched his brand of premium street clothes OAMC.
It resulted into an ultra-urgent streetwear and haute couture fusion: nylon parkas coexist with classic trousers and shoes, "office" shirts with knitted dresses. There are also the famous trouser suits and baggy overcoats: "The world of contrasts and nuances, with the soul at heart", the designers say. "Sensuality and clean lines were expressed in modern cuts and innovative technologies."
The couple allowed “liberty” in textures: cotton, macrame  lace over shirts and under coats, multi-colored nylon, silk and leather with metallic luster.
Minimalistic accessories preserved the characteristics of Jil Sander aesthetics, but the Meiers brought their vision of course. They added geometric earrings and bags, square-toed shoes, knots on belts and crocheted details.
The collection is very conceptual, but absolutely wearable and perfect for spring for sure.
