Jaquet Droz: a dance of golden arabesques
It is a pleasure to watch a watchmaker, who works in the most sophisticated paillonnee technique. After applying hot enamel on the dial, he manually lays fragile gold elements, reminiscent of the gentle quivering butterfly’s wings. This is how complex kaleidoscopic patterns, striking with their hypnotic beauty, are created. They are fixed with a layer of transparent enamel then.
Being inspired by ancient arabesques, Jaquet Droz presents six Grande Seconde watches made in this unique technique. They impress the connoisseurs with the inimitable luxury of bright blue and dark red enamel, and are offered in 35, 39 and 43 mm cases. Grande Seconde watch with a blue dial in hot enamel technique, admiring with the radiance of sequins, is offered in a gold 43 mm case. The tourbillon in the center of the dial is combined with the second hand.
All watches have a hand-made alligator leather strap and feature a movement with a silicon anchor wheel. Only a pocket watch, made in the number of 8 copies, are an exception. They illustrate the style of the Jaquet Droz, which aristocratic refinement never goes unnoticed.
