For the 8th time, Cherry Forest Festival presents the tour performances of the ballet troupe established by the world-renowned choreographer, founder, and creative director of the Saint Petersburg State Academic Ballet Theatre, People’s Artist of Russia Boris Eifman. 2021 is jubilee year: Boris Eifman celebrated his 75th anniversary this summer, Bosco di Ciliegi – its 30th anniversary, Cherry Forest Festival – its 20th anniversary! To properly commemorate these important events, Cherry Forest Festival presented several pieces by Boris Eifman, including one Moscow premiere on the Historical Stage of the Bolshoi.
The troupe performed its finest repertoire pieces at the Bolshoi: on July 27, 28, 29 – the Moscow premiere of the 2021 ballet The Molière Passions or The Mask of Don Juan; on July 30-31 – the choreographic masterpiece Anna Karenina. The tour ended on August 1 with a celebratory gala concert. Extracts from selected ballets by Eifman were showcased: Beyond Sin, The Pygmalion Effect, Russian Hamlet, as well as Rodin, Her Eternal Idol. The audience also witnessed the preview performance of episodes from the 2022 production of Seagull. Ballet Story – a new choreographic interpretation of Chekhov’s masterpiece.
Each performance of the tour was sold out. Members of the art and culture community, as well as social figures were seen at the theatre: Mikhail Kusnirovich.
