Blancpain: the true friend
Paying tribute to the centuries-old culture, for the sixth year in a row Blancpain presents the limited series of wristwatches featuring the traditional Chinese calendar.
Exclusively developed by the manufactory from Le Brassus, the complication Traditional Chinese Calendar is placed in a platinum case. Dog - the symbol of the up-coming lunar year, is engraved on the case-back.
The magnificent round dial of the new model features hour, minute and calendar indices  of the Gregorian calendar adjoined by the main indexes of the Chinese calendar.
In contrast to the solar calendar, in which sun day is taken as the elementary unit, the traditional Chinese calendar is lunisolar. The year consists of 12 lunar months, which is about 11 days shorter than the common 365 days. That is why a leap month is added sometimes, and the date of the new year is floating.
Thus, the indicator of Moon Phases linking the lunar cycles and the traditional Chinese months’ division, is a significant complication.
The model can be ordered at the Blancpain boutique in Petrovsky Passage
