Blancpain: watching the march of time
The complexities are not frightening but attracting sometimes. Thus, this is a sign of skill and bragging right in watchmaking. Blancpain is known for experiments with carrousel and tourbillon, and also a combination of these complications with minute repeater or perpetual calendar.
Another technically and aesthetically perfect Blancpain model featuring Caliber 242 was presented within Basel exhibition this year.
This new self-winding movement has an exceptional 12-day power reserve guaranteed by a single barrel. Being only 6.10 mm high and 30.60 mm in diameter, it consists of 243 components. The movement is equipped with a silicon balance spring and pallet-fork horns in order to alleviate the effects of magnetic fields.
The new model accentuates the beauty of this perfect complication: the off-set tourbillon carriage at 12 o’clock has been enlarged to offer a perfect view of the new design of the balance and the escape-wheel is on the dial. Round dial, gracefully swept over by hollowed sage leaf-shaped hands, is made in grand feu enamel technique, which requires the highest watchmakers’ craftsmanship.
This timepiece featuring double stepped 42 mm case is available in a limited numbered platinum edition as well as in 18K red gold version teamed with a chocolate brown alligator strap.
The model can be ordered in the boutique of the brand in Petrovsky Passage.
