Barovier&Toso – New Brand at BoscoCasa

This fall BoscoCasa offers Murano glass lamps and chandeliers by one of Italy’s most renowned glass manufacturers – Barovier&Toso.

Many technologies utilized by Barovier&Toso were discovered during the Golden Age of Italian art, from the 1400s to the 1600s. This was a truly unique epoch: six generations of talented artists exchanged knowledge and inspired the contemporaneous artistic and scientific community.

Artist and inventor Angelo Barovier was a prominent figure of that time. In 1450, he uncovered the secret for producing the finest glass known as “vetro cristallino” or “Venetian glass.” This discovery afforded Barovier an exclusive patent from the Republic of Venice and the status of “Michelangelo among glassmakers.”

Many of Angelo Barovier’s works can be viewed in the world’s top museums. Angelo Barovier spent his entire life on the island of Murano where he created numerous glass items, including three acclaimed masterpieces: bird cup, blue glass cup, and wedding cap. Angelo was truly a Renaissance man, motivated by boundless curiosity and a drive to study sciences and alchemy.

Later trends and discoveries ensured that glassmaking was always an engaging yet exceedingly difficult process. Each item dating back to the Fin de siècle is rightly considered to be a showcase of courage and mastery. The Baroviers began working with sculptors, artists, designers, and architects at their studios. This spirit of cooperation has predetermined the style of Barovier&Toso.

Strive for excellence has always remained a key trait of the Barovier clan. For centuries members of the family headed the Murano glassmaker guild and served as leading experts. Barovier&Toso employs only the best suppliers and follows the concept of uncompromising quality that is well represented by each piece created by the brand.

Barovier&Toso specializes in producing handmade lamps and chandeliers made from Murano glass in accordance with techniques tested by centuries of tireless work. Glassmaking skills are transferred from one generation to the next.

Barovier&Toso glass is remarkable for its rich palette of colours with unique hues of blue, yellow, and green. The Italian brand’s products can be found in famous mansions, luxurious hotels, and opera theatres.
