Alberta Ferretti: Venetian Carnival
Alberta Ferretti unveiled its new FW 2017 ad campaign, shot by the British fashion photographer of Vogue Tim Walker, who is known for the recognizable style. He creates quaint magic worlds, and this time is no exception.
Eight expressive shots that feature models Kiki Willems, Lexie Boling and Lincy Montero who appear as romantic princesses from the modern fairy tale, which is fully in tune with the spirit of the new FW collection 2017. The Italian Alberta Ferretti dedicated it to Venice, which can be seen at once. It is about flying chiffon dresses, capes & jackets decorated with prints depicting the famous Venetian canals or St. Mark's Square. It is surely not without "The Young Pope" series: wide-brimmed hats in the style of the Pontiff's headdresses, performed by Jude Law, fluttering robes that can be seen in the corridors of the Vatican even today.
Wide, flared trousers and sailors' collars are the references to the marine theme, or to be more exact, to the famous gondoliers’ outfits. Large floral prints on shining velvet and translucent chiffon remind of the luxurious interiors of the Venetian palazzo. The most interesting starts when evening comes: sparkling gold stars against the black background, birds and lions, mysterious feathers, long dresses, capotes, hats and masks carry away to the world of the Venetian carnival.
This is the first collaboration of Walker and Alberta Ferretti. The campaign was shot at London's Padbury Studio in April and is to be published in July 2017.
